FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FAQ: FAQ

DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?

Unfortunately, I cannot bill health insurance directly and will need to accept payment at time of service. However, I can accept HSA or FSA cards and/or provide you with a superbill to help with a reimbursement claim if your insurance company covers nutrition services.

WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DO YOU TAKE?

I accept credit/debit card, FSA or HSA. I cannot bill insurance directly, but I can provide a receipt of services or superbill to submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. Please check with your insurance company to confirm my services are eligible for reimbursement.

DO YOU OFFER TELEHEALTH?

Yes! I am currently doing appointments both in person and via a secure telehealth system.  I do prefer to do in person appointments at least occasionally, especially for our first visit, but will continue to offer telehealth as an option when needed.

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

I have an office located in Plymouth, Michigan and am also providing services through telehealth for those located elsewhere in Michigan.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A DIETITIAN AND NUTRITIONIST?

Anyone can call themselves a nutritionist, regardless of education or training. Registered dietitians (also known as registered dietitian nutritionists), are the food and nutrition experts, translating the science of nutrition into practical solutions for healthy living. In addition to holding a bachelors degree, and in many cases a masters degree, an RD or RDN must fulfill a specially designed, accredited nutrition curriculum, complete an extensive supervised internship and pass a rigorous registration exam.

WHAT IS A CERTIFIED SPECIALIST IN SPORTS DIETETICS (CSSD)?

The CSSD certification is offered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) for registered dietitians who have specialized experience in sports dietetics and have passed the CSSD exam. Sports Dietitians are experienced registered dietitians who apply evidenced-based nutrition knowledge in exercise and sports. They assess, educate and counsel athletes and active individuals. They design, implement and manage safe and effective nutrition strategies that enhance lifelong health, fitness and optimal performance.

HOW MANY APPOINTMENTS WILL I NEED?

This will vary from person to person, dependent on what your needs are. Occasionally all we'll need is an initial appointment and a few follow ups, but often we'll need more than that. We'll know more after your intial visit.
